Sync Drops Even With 12dB attenuation, -1 KM Far

Post by LyConsigliere »

Hello,
I'm Have ADSL+2, But My Line Sync Keeps Dropping Tens of Times Everyday. Almost Every Few Minutes. I Tried Downgrading The Connection To G.DMT on Annex A and Still getting those drops. I'm About less Than a KM Away From the Post Office. I Tried Changing The Line, The Splitter; completely disconnected the phone and still to no avail. The connection keeps dropping.

1. What is your advertised internet speed ? 24Mpbs.
2. What actual transfer speed do you get? Fluctuating Max 15Mps
3. Who is your Internet Provider (ISP), and what type of connection do you have ? BS (Libya/Africa) ADSL+2
4. What are your current settings ?

A Few weeks ago (Before I Switched to this) I was with another ISP, ADSL, 512Kpbs And the line wouldn't drop if a rat ate the phone line! But Now this.

If this was just installed, I would give it some time.

Usually, there is a "target SNR margin" of 6db when services are started. If the signal fluctuates a lot, this may have to be increased to 9db+, otherwise you will lose connection periodically. This may be an automatic process, or you may have to discuss it with your ISP for them to increase it (or stabilize the line somehow), but it is usually not editable on your end. Increasing the target SNR will stabilize the connection, but may cause it to sync at lower speed.

Unfortunately, No. This has been going on for several weeks now.

Increased to 9dB by improving the phone line or changing the setting on their system?

The target SNR margin can be increased by your ISP, they would have to change a setting for your line specifically.
