He will surely be missed.

Perhaps you could post his obituary so that we might know him even better?

Thanks,

If Tomorrow Starts Without Me
Author believed to be
David Romano

When tomorrow starts without me,
And I'm not there to see,
If the sun should rise and find your eyes
all filled with tears for me,

I wish so much you wouldn't cry
The way you did today,
While thinking of the many things,
We didn't get to say.

I know how much you love me,
As much as I love you,
and each time that you think of me,
I know you'll miss me too.

But when tomorrow starts without me,
Please try to understand,
That an angel came and called my name,
And took me by the hand,
and said my place was ready,
In heaven far above,
And that I'd have to leave behind
All those I dearly love.

But as I turned to walk away,
A tear fell from my eye
For all my life, I'd always thought,
I didn't want to die.

I had so much to live for,
So much left yet to do,
It seemed almost impossible,
That I was leaving you.

I thought of all the yesterdays
The good ones and the bad,
I thought of all the love we shared,
and all the fun we had

If I could re-live yesterday
Just even for a while,
I'd say good-bye and kiss you
And maybe see you smile.

But then I fully realized,
That this could never be,
For emptiness and memories,
would take the place of me.

And when I thought of worldly things,
I might miss come tomorrow,
I thought of you, and when I did,
My heart was filled with sorrow.

But when I walked through heaven's gates,
I felt so much at home
When God looked down and smiled at me,
From His great golden throne.

He said, "This is eternity,
And all I've promised you."
Today your life on earth is past,
But here life starts anew

I promise no tomorrow,
But today will always last,
And since each day's the same way
There's no longing for the past.

You have been so faithful,
So trusting and so true.
Though there were times
You did some things
You knew you shouldn't do.

But you have been forgiven
And now at last you're free.
So won't you come and take my hand
And share my life with me?

So when tomorrow starts without me,
Don't think we're far apart,
For every time you think of me,
I'm right here, in your heart.

Scott,

Croc was the first member to really make me feel welcome at SG when I joined over 3 years ago.

Since some of the ladies broke out the poems... I was thinking of that animated gif Croc had back in my early days. I used to see it all the time in the security forum :)

I still kinda identify Croc with that gif. ;)

I found a copy easily at a freeware site.

Image

I just wanted to add that to what I said earlier.

Croc will be missed but yet always in our hearts.

Again, my condolences.

Scott,

You should know that your father will be missed by many people all over the world for the laughter he brought with him and his sharp wit and kind heart. Simply put, that he will be missed so much by so many... that's the true testament to the kind of man he was. You, your mum and all your family will be in my thoughts and prayers and in the thoughts and prayers of many other people.

You are not the least bit alone.

Most Respectfully,

I hadn't even noticed this thread stickied at the top at first, until I saw Tynker's post in the other forum. This news was most unexpected. :(

sonofacroc, thank you for letting us know this. John may have been thousands of miles away from most of us, but we'd certainly consider him one of our friends, and we appreciate the fact that you took the time to tell us of his passing.

I wish the best for you and your family.

I was saddened on Saturday, when I received a phone call from Debbie telling me of Crocs passing... :( (Up on the farm, we have no computers or Internet.)

John was one of my first internet friends. In truth, he came to SpeedGuide, on my invite. I truly enjoyed chatting with him and will miss him greatly...

My heartfelt condolences go out to his real family as well as us, ...his cyber family.

Rest In Peace, John, your work is done...

Dads Eulogy

Post by sonofacroc »

My dad loved his wife , kids, and grandkids. Theirs so many things that I would like to say but we would be here for hours if I said everything. this is a time to celebrate my fathers life, and to remember just how much of a great man he is, speaking for myself i can only hope i am half the Son, Brother, Husband and Father he is. He will always be my best mate and will be sorely missed.

Dad was born on the 28th of May 1949 in Mt Barker South Australia to Dudly and Joan unfortunately both my grandfather and my grandmother couldnt be with us today as they have already passed instead Val the lady he called his mother is with us today and for that we are eternally gratful. There is so much of my fathers childhood i know nothing about he used to tell me stories of blowing up letter boxes shaped like houses, and riding bikes everywhere with his mates, but i think if anyone wants to know the real child in my father im sure his sister Vicki could tell you all some stories.

My Father married my mother in Melbourne on the 20th of November 1971 All the family came to Melbourne to witness this great milestone in his life, At that stage dad was working for the federal police. After spending some time in Melbourne my parents decided to move to Brisbane where they had 2 children, Kalie born on the 6th of October 1974 and myself on the 23rd of December 1977. Moving to Brisbane dad had resigned from his commisson in the Police force and preceded a long career in Pest Control, which bought us up to Townsville in 1987. After a few years up here of running his own business he was told by a doctor that he would need to leave the pest control industry for his own health. Things were tuff for mum and dad for a little while after that, dad tried to get work in several places and finally landed himself a job driving a forklift in a factory, he stuck at that for a few years but was never really happy with his job. Till one day he found himself having to look for another line of work. Luck would have it that he found the job he loved, Working as a Travel Tower Operator for Sherrin Hire turned out to be his most favorite job ever to the point where not so long ago he had been offered work with more money and turned it down, He was so passionate about his job that he inspired me to work in the same industry even if it was with the opposition.

Dad has 4 grandchildren which he adores, Bronte, Jacob, Xanthe, and Dylan. And was eagerly awaiting the fifth Alana who is due in Febuary, there was nothing he wouldnt do for them, just recently dad and i had taken Jacob and Xanthe to do some indoor rock climbing even tho he needed to prepare to go away with work on a job he still found the time, there was nothing else more important.

Dads other love was the internet, he used to post messages on a usergroup forum and has done for quite a few years, the news of his passing hassnt just affected us, his family and friends, but hundreds of people all over the world. who like us are in total shock that this could have happened. I would like to read out some of the replies we have had from people around the world.

Thank you for letting us know here at speedguide, and my heart goes out to you and your family. He was well loved here at speedguide, and will be sorely missed...there is no question of that.

He shared humor, joy, and his special type of sparkling personality with all of us here, and he will not be forgotten. This may seem like a little thing to you...however he just recently shared something with us that he really enjoyed for breakfast...a ginger marmalade...I was so intrigued by the sound..that I made some myself. It will now always be made in his honor from this point forward.

You are at peace now my friend. You will be so missed
---------------------------------------------------
already missing the jokes about drop bears and hoop snakes
-------------------------------------------------------------
John, may love, light, peace and joy reign in your soul forever!

We love you!
-------------------------------------------------------------

i would like to invite my sister up with me to say a poem, but not just any poem, These were very special to him as they are to us now, Dad spoke these words only 6 years ago at his fathers funeral.

When I come to the end of the road,
And the sun has set for me,
I want no rites in a gloom filled room ...
Why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little, but not too long,
And not with your head bowed low;
Remember the love that we once shared ...
Miss me - but let me go! For this is a journey we must all take,
And each must go along;
It's all part of the "Master's" plan ...
A step on the road to home. When you are lonely and sick of heart,
Go to the friends we know,
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds ...
Miss me - but let me go
