Shinobi, yum seems to work pretty well, much more polished than up2date and seems to resolve all dependencies ok. You can add repos to it as well... It's been mostly a smooth ride, minus a sendmail mess I got myself into, grr. Anyone into playing with sendmail.mc and domain masquerading through an anti-spam proxy ?

Ya a bunged database wouldn't be a happy thing.

Thanks for the "yum" comment back in this thread.Philip wrote:Images in signatures and a few other templates may be broken for a few minutes, still fixing stuff.
I went here and d/l the gui, "yum extender" works great..
looks like synaptic package manager.

Q: Is there a Graphical User Interface (GUI) for yum?
A: Yes! It's called Yum Extender.
You can install it with yum:
1. Open a Terminal.
2. Become root:
su -
3. Install yumex:
yum install yumex
Now you can access Yum Extender in the Applications menu, under "System Tools."
