Min broadband speed for VOIP-help!

Post by andykitchen »

I am possibly moving to a house with a bad mobile signal and quite slow broadband.
I need to have a working mobile number for my job. I have a blackberry and I can set it to work over wifi which would be fine as I'd be very near to my computer/wifi box most of the time
I've checked the broad band speed in the house and the download speed is 2.09mbps and the upload speed is 0.24 mbps- is this going to be good enough for my phone to work over the wifi?
I'm not technical at all and any help/opinions would be much appreciated
Also is this broadband speed really bad? Its in rural scotland and the house is a couple of miles from the exchange

thanks!
