Another "Burke Needs Help with Wordpress" help thread...

Thanks to TonyT for helping me last time, but I've been slogging my way through customizing a new Wordpress template I'm using for my blog, but even after a lot of Googling and reading though Wordpress.org, I still can't figure out how to get things to my satisfaction.

The two things I want to achieve are as shown in the mock-up photo below:

1) For the previous/next links to show the title of the previous/next post(s), not just say "Previous" or "Next". I have my blog set to display only the 1 most recent post.

2) To align the Categories and Archive dropdowns and the Search box horizontally within the image I created that matches the blog header.

Any help is much appreciated and I would be glad to remunerate you should it prove too involved for a simple forum reply.
