First fire (fireplace) of the season

Post by Easto »

It's nowhere as cold here in So Cal as it is in other parts of the country but we decided to have our first fire while Mrs. Easto decorated the tree and the front room. It looks like I'm going to need to make another run to the firewood supplier. Last year I got too much hardwood and it's not really giving me the flame I like. I prefer Pine, Orange and Cedar. Occasionally some walnut is ok but it still doesn't give me the flame I like.

I was thinking of lighting a fire last week as it got quite chilly a couple of nights (down in the 40s), but I figured I'll wait. I only get a chance to light it a few nights a year, temperature is back in the 70s now, heh.

The Mrs. doesn't like it much when I burn real wood though, she says she can smell the smoke in the room and prefers the artificial stuff :/
