Rfc 1483?
I am just about to sign up for DSL. They will sell me a modem for $99.99. They said I could bring my own modem as long as it's ADSL and supports RFC 1483 Bridge Mode. Should I just get their modem? What other modems support RFC 1483? What exactly will a modem that supports this say? I found two modems, a D-Link DSL-300 or DSL-200 and they say this;
Data Encapsulation RFC 1483 IP over ATM RFC 1483 Ethernet over ATM is this what i am looking for a modem to say? Or will it say "RFC 1483 Bridge Mode" somewhere? I guess my main questions are what modems can I that support RFC 1483 Bridge mode and where can i get them? I can't seem to find ADSL modems for sale. Maybe i am looking in the wrong spots. Thanks, ToolBoy |

The DSL-300 supports bridging/DHCP, classical IP over ATM, PPP over ATM, and Embedded PPP over Ethernet.
RFC 1383 IP over ATM RFC 1483 ethernet over ATM. The DSL 200 support RFC 1483 also but it is USB |
