Setting up my wireless router in China

Hello,

I brought a Linksys WRT54G v5. (I think that is the version) with me to China from the US along with a Toshiba Satellite laptop. My wife is using an ADSL modem from ChinaNet.

Well...first off, I thought the adapter for the router accepted 110 and 220 volts. Hmmm...my mistake. I fried the adapter, so I went and bought a new one. I can get the computer to connect with the router fine via wireless, but when I plug in the ADSL modem, it literally shuts the modem down. The oreless goes out and the modem drops the signal to the computer. I set the modem with the PPoE setting and used the correct password and user ID, but it still does the same thing. I can unplug the cord from the modem to the router, plug it into the computer, and get great INternet access. I'm a little confused on this one.

Is the router just not compatible with the ADSL modem?

Any help is greatly appreciated as I am leaving in a few days and would like to get this working for her.
