Help with tweaking Buffalo modem/router (WBMR-G54)
Hey guys,
I recently bought the modem/router combo mentioned in the title. I've managed to set everything up properly (i think) after a bit of hassle with the AOSS thing. But i believe that the router is limiting my throughput. My advertised connection speed is 8mb and the speedtests i've tried report around that. However, when i'm downloading things it rarely gets over 1-2mb, and on grabit the graph seems to stay at a steady 126KB/s. I tried tweaking my connection settings with tcpoptimizer and there's been no difference probably because the buffalo router itself allows MTU settings etc. But when i try to change the MTU from 1400 to 1500 web pages take an age to load So if anyone has experience with buffalo routers and could tell me how to tweak mine i would be very grateful. Oh and these are my results from the speednet analyzer, just in case there's anything else i can tweak. Cheers! « SpeedGuide.net TCP Analyzer Results » Tested on: 05.04.2007 13:10 IP address: xx.xxx.xxx.xx TCP options string: 020405500103030301010402 MSS: 1360 MTU: 1400 TCP Window: 513920 (NOT multiple of MSS) RWIN Scaling: 3 Unscaled RWIN : 64240 Reccomended RWINs: 65280, 130560, 261120, 522240 BDP limit (200ms): 20557kbps (2570KBytes/s) BDP limit (500ms): 8223kbps (1028KBytes/s) MTU Discovery: ON TTL: 44 Timestamps: OFF SACKs: ON IP ToS: 00000000 (0) |

Here's mine & it is working fine. Still, it woiuld be nice to get a newer firmware so that it can be used with certain line monitoring software.

Try flashing the Buffalo router with DD-WRT. It improved my wireless range significantly and has many more features than the standard Buffalo firmware. www.dd-wrt.com
