Weird Sound

Win 98 Pent III 64, 20gig Quantex (they went south so no help there) Only sound I get is a weird sound like a machine gun? ? Music downloads sound the same? Device Manager shows Ensoniq Audio PCI,.................. Ensoniq Audio Device PCI...................... and Wave Device For Voice Modem, ..............Devise manager says all working?? Thanks in advance

have u tried removing the driver and reinstalling? what about trying another set of speakers?

I refreshed all three devices, is that the same as remove and reinstall or not? Can computer speakers be tested on another audio device with house current? Mine are Altec Lansing Speakers woofer and 2 small ones

yes as long as they're powered (they plug into the wall for power)..then u can test the speakers into any minijack output (like a portable cd player or walkman).

Under Control Panel, System, Device Manager, Sound, Video etc you can find Properties, Refresh, or Remove??
