    Unhappy bandwidth drop

    ok here we go i have a
    2.26 p4
    512 ddr ram
    cable
    xp
    no fire wall
    and have reformated my comp to be shure no spyware is on

    when go do a band width test i get 1500.kbs a sec
    and surfing is fast
    i can download a file of a page at 100.kbs a sec
    but if i use e donkey or winmx to share files
    it drops to 5.kbs a sec to .60
    and web browsing at the same time forget it
    but what i cant under stand is the people with cable
    dsl even 56.k get way better than me but they say i scor way higher in bandwidth test i will not have anyone getting any thing from me and try downloading from a guy who is min 40.kbs on win mx and i will still get 5.kbs
    i diod a couple tweaks not shur if i did the right ones but at oone point it did go to 40.kbs and stayed up like that for awile then droped as usual
    can some one please help me

    If your downloads are good, tweaking probably won't help p2p.

    Does your isp suppress/throttle common p2p ports? I have heard that this is a new trend (especially among cable isps)...

    It's very hard to know what the other guy's uploading to others. They might also throttle their upload bandwidth. Because of all the tcp overhead, a low upload can have a dramatic effect on download speeds - if you fill up the upload queue then your downloads have to wait longer for acks.

    Common when the file dosent have alot of sources. the more common files i get 200-500k on the donkey. recently i went over to Overnet you may want to give it a try.
