i'm posting this cuz i just hit 3ghz!

but it does lock after a while...

that is with a stock intel hsf though

rock solid stable at 3ghz and and i'm still going up, stable at 2.95ghz at stock voltage on my 2.5 p4, these are nice cpus, i guess my 2.26 was a pretty crappy choice, should have listened to hongkongpolice when he said get teh 400mhz bus P4s, but anyway, even if ur unstable and can hit it, i say we can let ya in lol

Hey so the Multiplier of an INtel is locked right? So are you are doing is up'ing the fsb?

now as u see its 122x 25.0

The multipliers on ALL Intel CPUs sold commercially are locked, so you just raise the FSB and multiply it by the CPU's multiplier.

I am going to buy an intel chip to go w/ my IT 7 Max I Mobo, and was wondering which one to go with obviously Yard swaying me towards the 2.56 anything else like to be oc'ed I have heard good things about the 2.26 but not the 2.4

Impressive yos ! Now see, even the n00bs can overclock an intel cuz there's really no work to it. All you gotta do is raise fsb. That's no fun. BUT, the fun is unlocking an AMD, raising the fsb,voltages,playing with multiplyers. C'mon you gotta admit it.

Even i can get a P4 to open up at 3Ghz or better in my sleep.

Now lets see you try and get 2Ghz from an xp1600 like i did, run stable on air !

u dont need to unlock teh athlons. dont worry i'll have an OCed amd system soon enouh.
