Hoping for some help with my home network/lab...here goes.
Got two Cisco 1720 routers back-to-back via serial ports and crossover cable and this is working fine. The fastethernet port of router one is connected to my RR cable modem and is set to clone my PC MAC address and hostname, this seems to work fine but I dont always get my IP address assigned. Router one is also configured for NAT of course.
Router 2 is connected to my PC's via a hub and is setup to dole out ip addresses via DHCP, this also seems to work fine. When all is working I can ping from my PC to the RR default gateway.
Problem is DNS is not working, I cant ping either of the RR DNS servers or the DHCP server even from Router 1, though I can always ping the default gateway. When not connected through the routers, I can ping the DNS and DHCP servers.
Oh yeah, router 2 is setup with the IP addresses of my DNS servers and my PC learns this through the DHCP process, I verified this with ipconfig.
Anyway I have 2 goals, use the routers as a hardware firewall (the IOS has the firewall code, but its not on yet) and use it as a lab to study for CCNA.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
