    You know, like in the WIntel world, there were "overdrive" processor upgrades, such as Evergreen. Upgrade your classic Pentium 166 to a Celeron 300 or Pentium II or some yucky Cyrix or early AMD K6 upgrade. Basically a higher end processor on a socket adapter to adapt to earlier motherboards, with multiplier and voltage adjustments pre-programmed in.
