    Nope.

    .ram files are evil
When they kick at your front door, how you gonna come? With your hands at your head, or the trigger of your gun?

Agreed, RealPlayer is bad. Make sure, if you decide to install it, that you have a good firewall set up to block it's constant attempts to connect with the Real domain.

There will be a file called RNDAL.EXE that will be the culprit. I renamed it PIECEOF*****.EXE and the RealPlayer program stopped the requests.

The offending file will be located in the %root%/Program Files/Common Files/Real/Update_OB directory.

I've on occasion tried installing Realplayer because of wanting to play some .ram files. After reading above I'm glad that it never liked my computer and failed to work and made me take it off.

I gave up on Realplayer too (long ago), what a piece of (you know)

I searched high and low (real low) for a player that could play ram files and came up with nothing. Even XnView (which supports over 350 file formats) couldn't play a ram file.

My biggest complaint was it's constant attempts to access the internet, even when RealPlayer wasn't loaded!

My suggestion (above) fixed that problem for me and now I just use RealPlayer when "necessary."

I the meantime, it causes no problems, simply resides on my hard drive awaiting my instructions, i.e., behaving like it freakin' should in the first place.
