    problem

    so i restart my computer and it doesnt want to boot.... it freezes when loading windows....... turn it off, wait a few seconds and well now the power button doesnt even work.... light is lit on the motherboard and nothing happens when hitting power button....... wait a minute try to turn on..... it starts to boot and freezes when loading windows........ power off and it doesnt come back on...... two power supplys have been tried with same results

    try re-seating the ram,or try different ram,

    sounds like that to me.

    A tech. in our shop had a similar problem the other day and it
    ended up being a bum kingston nic card.

    I just fixed one a week ago with the same problem. Do you own a DVOM(digital volt ohm meter)? Measure the voltage of your power supply. You should be real close to 12 and 5 volts.

    clear cmos and try again.. if u were trying to OC and went too high..some mobos don't have that failsafe mechanism.

    well the voltage meter revealed.... possibly two bad power supplys.... so trying a new one soon

    Yank out all the cards but video and see if it boots. Do as Amro suggests and clear cmos as well.

    Check again to make sure the reset button is not stuck.

    Also check the bezel-to-MB wire connections. It's easy to plug them in wrong.

    reset button wire was pulled off motherboard to ensure it was not stuck....... bezel?? as in the power supply? or the hd lights, reset power.... etc.... it was tried with just the power one plugged in..... but they were all in the right spots anyway

    Have you removed everything but the video...in other words, pull the HD, cd-rom, floppy, sound, NIC, any other cards....etc...

    Is this the rig in your sig? Duron been overclocked for a while? Hmmm... Also Abit motherboard...hmmmm....

    about three months ago one of my freind got the same problem, we did everything most of the steps ,but finally we find out that one of the socket was lose and just by touching it and a little presure ,it made the right contact .the lock part was cracked and was not making the right contact.the beep is the clue......
    just a tought

    what socket...... the one that comes from power supply to mobo?
