    NAT Problem

    Hello

My problem is this, i cant send or get files in the ICQ, host online games, get files in mirc.... in general i cant connect directly.

This problem started after i hacked my modem (Alacatel Speed Touch home) to the PRO version so i could "build" my home network.

The network work just fine, but now i have those probs.

My instincs tell me its cos im using NAT (so i connect both network computers on my ADSL)
But i need my computer to use the "real" ip not the NAT

So does anyone have a clue how can i make the external IP (Real Ip) my Internal IP (NAT), without taking the network down?

    Thanks Alot
    Az

Since you're not running NAT, which in effect is a hardware firewall, you now have to go out and learn which ports your software uses, and forward those ports in the NAT configuration ot the internal LAN IP of your computer running the software.

Here's a site with a list of some common ports:

    http://www.practicallynetworked.com/..._port_list.htm

Find documentation on configuring the NAT of your Alcatel.
