    ? D-Link Routers ?

    Hi, I am thinking of getting a D-Link DI-704P 4-port Router (w/ LPT port) for $30 (US) ... but -

    - will / can using this router add latency to my (cable isp) connection? I have enough ping and packetloss problems already...

    - also, I never plan on having more than 2 computers to network... so should I just stick with a crossover cable and software firewall?

    ... I will probably be networking a Win98(1st) machine with an WinXP machine, and I would like to be able to share internet connection without having one computer always on as a server... but I guess it's not a critical need...
