I was messing with my Volcano 7 stock fan when I snapped the yellow wire from the circuit board. So I decided what the hell might aswell try the solder mod. I soldered the yellow sensor wire back onto the fan circuit board first, then removed the green sensor leaving me with a red and yellow wire. I stripped them both and soldered them together. started it up and boom 5000rpm @ 53CFM!! it's pretty noisy about 40Db but it's a hell of a lot quieter than the 60mm Delta fans and the other 80mm fans I have that run at that CFM level.
I'm going to get an akasa sound absortion mat kit to line my case with next week. Then hopefully I'll have cooling without the extreme noise.
