Scanner trouble

I have a UMAX Astra 2100U (USB) scanner. I just did a compleate "slate and format" and set up a duel boot system.
Now when I go to use my scanner everything works normal but it produces a black image from the whole scanned area.
The lamp is working and it passes all it's self diagnostic tests.
I am going to install a different driver after class today but I was wondering if any of you have run into this before?
The two O/S's on the comp are Win98SE and Win2K.

I had a 2100P that would do the same thing, only mine was because of dirty mirrors. I had to take it apart and clean the mirrors and backside of glass.

I finally upgraded to a HP 2200c, much better!

Well I tried the driver thing and no go. I also tryed uninstalling and then reinstalling it, that didn't work either. Now I am out of ideas. Anyone else have any?

When in dought . . . check the USB connection at the back of the scanner
