tips on painting plastic component. (my scanner lid)
i have a canon fb630ui model scanner (really nice, its so slim and light) with interchangable lids (they come in only IMAC fruity colors..lol). well, we all know thats played out, so i want to paint the lid either black or silver/chrome to match my other components
any tips on what type of paint, brand, and painting instructions, tips and tricks..etc.. thanks.
Wash the lid really good with soap that will cut the grease, dishsoap works great
The if you get some 600 grit wet sandpaper, the black stuff, wet sand it while your running water over it
The use enamal paint, it wont bother the plastic. In a model shop you can get some pretty good
plstic paints in spray bombs that are made especially for plastics.
I painted the monitor and puter front with enamel with no problem.

Not sure if this will help ya but in any auto supply store (like Murrays, Pep BOys, Auto Zone, etc...) you can pick up "dashboard" paint that is made for the vinyl and hard plastic found on a cars interior. It is very durable, I used some in an old 93 Mustang I had a few years back and it never scratched.
