    Fatal Error

Twice now when I boot up, I get a blue screen error just with a number and no other comments. Not sure why but after my son's been on. This happens randomely. Never 2 times in a row. I just don't understand what's happening.

After the message, I push ctr alt del to reboot, it' s the only way out and then it restarts and wants me to pick safe mode.

Any ideas as to what is happening?

I don't do any troubleshooting because it doesn't list any options for the problem. I just shut down and restart and it seems fine.

Till the next time it happens unexpectadly.

Wish I had more info but that's it.

    Thanks for your time.

Under which operating system is this? sounds really odd since you get that error once you boot up and doesn't happen when you're actually working at your desktop. Hard to tell what exactly is causing it but if you can give us more information like your OS and some ahrdware specs, then we can maybe help narrow things down a bit

Empty temporary files then run scandisk in safe mode. If no errors are found on the Hard drive, then defrag.

you may want to scan for viruses, trojans and things of that nature first. if it started after you installed a program or something you could try this, at a dos prompt type scanreg /restore, this will bringa list of the last 5 good boots you have had(I believe its 5), pick one a few days b4 it started. You will lose anything that you have installed depending how far back you go with the restore.

I would do this as a last option, mikey or someone may be able to help ya get it fixed another way. perhaps norm will stop by and offer a helping hand here.

    good luck.

Thanks for replies finally got on here to post. The scan in safe mode found errors where the regular scan didn't and no further problems.

    Thanks for your help
