Question ADSL questions from complete novice

I've just got an USB ADSL modem, but have a few problems. First of all, download speed is fine but some webpages cannot be accessed, or only 10% of the time. One example is Yahoo UK, whereas Yahoo. com is fine. I also find some pages in the UK are very slow or accessible at all (I'm in Switzerland), but mayn in the US are OK. Will any tweaks here help my problem or is it my ISP's problem? Like I said, I am bit of a novice, but probably know enough to be a danger to myself (and others).
Oh, and another thing, I have problems loading images, gifs etc from other servers when viewing some webpages.

Zyxel Prestige 630 ADSL USB modem (256/64)
    Anything else relevant?
    Many thanks

Do you have to click Connect to connect to your DSL?

Oh, sorry. It's the same old Dial-up connection window that I used for my Dial-up modem.

Ahh, download the PPPoE Speed tweak patch for your OS as listed on this site, right lick choose install, then reboot, and run the test again.

Yes. For some reason it is not changing your MTU though. Download this tool and change the MTU value for your Dial-up Adapter to 1492. Reboot and retest, if you have multiple dial-up adapters change all one at a time untel the test shows it's been changed, please reboot inbetween testing.

I actaually already d/l'ed that tool. There are 2 fields; IPMTU and Internet MTU. Which one do I change? Ihe Internet MTU is greyed out, the other is at 0.

You want to change the MTu listed beside the adapter, what is that listed as? Also what adapters do you have in that drop down menu?

OK, the adaptor listed is a Dial-up adaptor, no others. The IPMTU is set at 0. I just tried changing it to 1492, rebooted and redid the test, but it still shows MTU at 1500.
