Question What in god's name do I have herre

    Man,

Ran the generic registry patch with significant improvement. Here's my analysis: should I tweak the web loading patch since my pages do hang momentarily and then skyrocket to the home page. Once at the sight, movement therein is good. Please forgive my naivete and if you guys got some insight, please let me have it.

    TCP options string = 020405b401010402

    MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.

    MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which is equal to MSS.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 65535
    RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
    Unscaled Receive Window = 65535
Note: Under Windows 9x, if you have RWIN set to any other value, and the Analyzer reports 65535 you might need to install the MS Vtcp386 fix.
For optimum performance, consider changing RWIN to a multiple of MSS.
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
    513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
    256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
    128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
    64240 (MSS x 44)

    bandwidth * delay product:
    Your RcvWindow limits you to: 2621.4 kbps (327.675 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
    Your RcvWindow limits you to: 1048.56 kbps (131.07 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

    MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = OFF

Time to live left = 50 hops
    TTL value is ok.

    Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

    Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000

    Thanks,

    Dave

I see win 98 SE. Do you have the cablenut adjuster (you need to fix a few things)

    BTW... Welcome to Speed Guide!

You might want to go here If your RWIN is 65535 then you need the Vtcp386th Fix patch if on OS's of 95/98/SE or set Tcp1323 Opts to 1 to allow scaling.

DSL I see. Sorry I'm not a DSL guy. Evil might be along though.

    What kind of animal....

Ok, what's a speed nut adjuster? I'll go get it and will it be foolproof or will I need to back up? I assume it'll be in the tweaking or advanced areas?!

Go to the cablenut web page (where the adjuster is) and read, read, read. It does make changes to your registry so it will need to be backed up. Cablenut web page will tell you how. I'm off to bed. Like I said... read and do it in the morning when you're fresh.

actually, there is no need to backup when you install since you can always delete the tweaks by pressing the button in the Cablenut Adjuster. Unless you find a setting that you are good with, which we will show you when you wake up, there's really no need for backup. Cablenut will NOT do any harm to you if you can follow our instructions.

Click on help thread below in signature and follow directions exactly, please leave your OS and system specs if you have not done so.Also if you have Cablenuts adjuster installed I need to know that. There are some Tips and how to do speed test on help thread. Thank you and good luck. Please do this AFTER you install patches:

Please click in my signature where it says Test tweak here, then:
At top where it says edit click and select, Select all,
Then go back to same edit button at top, click and select copy.
Come back to Speedguide, same thread you were on, in post reply box, with cursor blinking at begining of box go to top, edit, click, select paste, click, this will put information in box. Please X out your IP address, Thank you.

    Question Hey gurus

    Fellas:

Here's what I got: after generic registry patch, 386 patch, and web page patch. Did a quick check and got 635 down and 525 up. Was getting 665 with just generic patch.

    Saving registry after each patch.

Suggestions? I admit to not going past this point - no defrag, etc.

    Thanks,

    Dave
