nevermind. I realize that the only firmware in there is for the wavebase.

I have also started to notice that I am getting dropped from CS servers. More or less at random. Kinda wierd actually. Sometimes it will run perfectly for 1 1/2 hrs. then boom. Disconnected from the server. At first I thought it was due to my God-Like Skills at CS and the Admin booted me. But I was confirmed that this wasn't the case. Internet connection and all was intact and latency was normal when disconnected.

Have you noticed any activity like this with Firmware Version V1 Rel 3F ???

I am still going to upgrade to the beta firmware. I would like to get a list of what it is supposed to fix first just so I can do more testing. I was just curious if you seen something like this with that particular version and if the latest firmware fixes it.

    Regards,
    Dayill.

I will be honest with ya........I have had no problems with cs and the pro800, matter of fact me and 2 other friends would play for hours on cs through the pro800.The new firmware and cs, dont know........dont play cs anymore since AvP2 came out.I must add that cs is a buggy game to begin with....remember it was a mod, a giant mod made by 1 guy.Look at all the patches for the game its a great game but not a 100% reliable, hopefully if and when cs2 comes out its programmed by a team and done correct from the ground up

Cool. Yeah I was only comparing it with the performacnce of my other router. I never got dropped randomly before. First time I started to see it was with the Nexland. Hopefully the new code will work better. Its not a huge deal but bothersome none the less.

    Regards,
    Dayill.

You letting that DMZ box get IP from the routers DHCP service? Or are you specifying IP manually on the workstation, and what are you putting for DNS server(s)?

I was running dmz for a game , it had problems opening ports with both virtual server and special apps.Yes I use dhcp and it was the firmware that was the problem.I put the old firmware back on and its all good now. dmz is fine and no problems opening ports for virtual server or special apps.

    Hi all!!!!

Guess what,,, Nexland sent me a pro400 because they are having supply issues in Canada with the ISP-SOHO.

Anyway just hooked it up right now, was very easy. My MTU is limited to 1472,,, the firmware version is V1 Rel 3F. I need to see if I can up it to 1492.

lol,,, I feel like a kid with a new toy

I was a the Football game yesterday,,, so I am moving a little slooooowwwww today. I thinking a nap would be nice right now but I think I will mess around with my new router first. lol

FYI,,, setup was just as easy,, if not easier than my original linky. The only reason I am leaning towards easier is because zero initial problems connecting to the net. When I set up my Linky for the first time I had to cycle power to it before it would connect to internet, just seemed a little flaky.

Will repost with how happy I am with it later!

Looks like currently Nexlands max MTU for PPPoE connection is 1472. I have asked them if they are considering upping this for PPPoE connections to 1492 (still waiting for an answer, I emailed them last night, I will probably hear from them today).

So far so good. I guess you get what you pay for. The Pro400 seems to be smoother when gaming, that is comparing it to the LINKY. I think the PING nets out lower also but before I start saying that I will test it awhile longer.

FYI it also seems like my consistency for downloads is better, and I am getting NO packet loss now, with the linky I would see packet loss.

    My current status is
    P4 2.4ghz 512ram XP pro ATI 9600pro
    P4 2.0ghz 256ram Win2000 Geforce2 MX 400
    P4 1.6ghz 512ram XP Home Geforce4 Ti4200

Hi Phantom,,, do you know why they currently limit the PPPoE MTU size to 1472?

More than likely due to the pppoe only goes that high on mtu, I have 2 static lines I stay away from pppoe. From what I have both seen and read on the net is that (and this may or may not be true) the pppoe takes up to a 15% hit on bandwidth and static lines bandwidth a little better.

MTU size limited to 1472,,, here is the answer from nexland.

The Pro400 has MTU Discovery and takes the MTU from the ISP when using PPPoE. The PPPoE negotiation is 8 bytes, the PPP header is 20 bytes. From the Ethernet maximum MTU 1500, minus these 28 bytes, the remainder is 1472. That is why this number can not be altered.
