Question New MoBo and Processor combo

I am going to upgrade my current computer, what i am looking to do now is just upgrade the motherboard and processor, what do you all think is a good combo out there? Would it be better to stick with a MoBo that uses sdram, one that uses ddr ram, or rdr ram? i am not concerned with price at the moment. Also for the processor i know that the speed is ultimately limited to the bus speeds on the MoBo, so what would the wise choice????

You can lose nothing by waiting. If it wasn't as good as you expected it, the current one will cost hell of a lot less.

True if I wait they will more then likely drop in price. What the computer is running now i am not sure what type of motherboard, but it has a pentiumII 400mhz processor. I have another computer that has a abit kt7a mobo and a 1.2ghz processor, i really like the combo, but with the trend flowing towards ddr and rdr memory, i will more than likely get a mobo that can utilize one of the two.

I think an upgrade now would be justified.

I really don't wanna get into which path to take.

That is up to you. Either you're an Intel fan or an AMD fan. It's like Coke vs Pepsi.

Intel seems to have a long product life span, greater reliability, and stronger multimedia performance.

Athlon has better gaming performance and beats Intel in performance on a clock for clock ratio, meaning the current 1.4 ghz Athlon has about as much ompf as a P4 1.8 ghz in terms of game benchmarks.

Depends really on what you prefer and what you do.
