MAC Adress

Hi , I need some quick help guys / gals.


I n Windows XP I am able to Change (add) my mac adress , Now I have an extra cable modem / IP adress , when I get the changes made How would I set up my modem(s) staticly to work with my cable connection ?

WHAT I KNOW:

- I have an extra cable modem

- I have only 1 Network card ( for the time being )

- I have a splicer

NOW ---With the arp -s command in windows XP i am able to specify a "static" Adress , im not sure if this refers to my mac adress but im pretty sure it does.

what I want to acomplish

Changing cable modems or adding the modem once I get an extra NIC card.

Cable modem 1.) Surfboard 3100

Cable modem 2.) Toshiba PCX1100

dude the MAC and SN of the modem need to be provisioned with the Cable company..............you can mask the MAC of your NIC all you want, but not the MAC of a MODEM.................each modem needs a config file from the TFTP server that is it gets using the MAC AND SN

even if you could mask the MAC OF THE MODEM.....which you cannot because the modem has to be the LasT THING ON THE LINE BEFORE GOING OUT OF THE WALL to the outside your modem would not sync up because you have 2 separate brands of modems.........YES EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE BOTH DOCSIS they take differant config files..................and even if they were the same brand you still need the SN provisioned or the network will not let that modem pass traffic

what you are trying to do is so convalluted i could barely understand the concept at first
