    Question Stop Error?

What does it mean? lately when I play Half Life, sometimes when I click on ESC to save my game or something, I get a blue screen stop error, and it says .
Windows has stopped to prevent further damage to your computer. Push F1 to go into self destruct mode. Push any key to cancel.
joking, obvisouly, but it does say windows has shut down to prevent damange, and also: DUMPING PHYSICAL MEMORY TO DISK: 1, 2, 3, 4, etc, etc.

At that point I leave, and let it do it's thing, and 10 minutes later my computer works like normal.
I run Half Life in OpenGL mode, 1024x768 resolution, TNT2 32MB. Latest drivers and updates for everything.
When I get that error, the problem is like a 4disp.dll file or something. so I assume it's something to do with my display

Now, I'm using WinXP, and this only happens when playing Half Life, and not very often either. so my questions are:

Is that STOP ERROR damaging my computer? and how and why do you get those errors?

I get the same exact error, sans the DUMPING PHYSCIAL MEMORY TO DISK, when I try and install my Western DIgital hard drive. So if I can figure out how to fix the stop error from happening, maybe I can install my hard drive finally.

Probably becaus ethe drivers you are using are beta. XP drivers by 3rd party vendors are all beta now and some I'll bet are very buggy.
