What does it mean? lately when I play Half Life, sometimes when I click on ESC to save my game or something, I get a blue screen stop error, and it says .joking, obvisouly, but it does say windows has shut down to prevent damange, and also: DUMPING PHYSICAL MEMORY TO DISK: 1, 2, 3, 4, etc, etc.Windows has stopped to prevent further damage to your computer. Push F1 to go into self destruct mode. Push any key to cancel.
At that point I leave, and let it do it's thing, and 10 minutes later my computer works like normal.
I run Half Life in OpenGL mode, 1024x768 resolution, TNT2 32MB. Latest drivers and updates for everything.
When I get that error, the problem is like a 4disp.dll file or something. so I assume it's something to do with my display
Now, I'm using WinXP, and this only happens when playing Half Life, and not very often either. so my questions are:
Is that STOP ERROR damaging my computer? and how and why do you get those errors?
I get the same exact error, sans the DUMPING PHYSCIAL MEMORY TO DISK, when I try and install my Western DIgital hard drive. So if I can figure out how to fix the stop error from happening, maybe I can install my hard drive finally.
