Thread: What else can I do, lobo?

    Question What else can I do, lobo?

    I downloaded and ran adjuster.exe to change my values. I lowered my MTU to 1492 to try to help alleviate a wee bit of my packetloss (I saw you mention in another post that you lowered yours a bit because of ploss).

    What is GlobalMaxTcpWindoSize? I couldn't find anything on it. It is shown in the manual tweak screen with a value of 204400.

    My system:
    ABIT KT7A
    AMD Duron 850MHz
    256MB SDRAM
    ATI Radeon 64MB Video TV In/Out
    40GB Maxtor HDD
    3Com 3C905TX Fast Etherlink NIC
    Toshiba Cable Modem (don't know the model)
    Server = AT&T Roadrunner

    TCP options string = 020405ac0103030201010402

    MTU = 1492
    MTU seems to be optimized for PPPoE... If you are not on a PPPoE connection, consider increasing your MTU to 1500 for optimal throughput.

    MSS = 1452
    Maximum useful data in each packet = 1452, which is equal to MSS.
    MSS is optimized for PPPoE. If you are not on a PPPoE connection, consider increasing your MTU value.

    Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 255552
    RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 2 bits
    Unscaled Receive Window = 63888
    RWIN is a multiple of MSS
    Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
    511104 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
    127776 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
    63888 (MSS x 44)

    bandwidth * delay product:
    Your RcvWindow limits you to: 10222.08 kbps (1277.76 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
    Your RcvWindow limits you to: 4088.832 kbps (511.104 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

    MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

    Time to live left = 48 hops
    TTL value is ok.

    Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

    Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

    IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000

    Are you on a PPPoE dialup connection.

    I'm on cable. I turn on the modem and I'm connected in a few short minutes.

    What OS, and have you downloaded a PPPoE dsl patch from this site, and do you also have Cablenuts patch

    Win98.

    I haven't downloaded a PPPoE patch. I was under the impression I was not using PPPoE because I don't click on anything to log in.

    I've only done the TCP/IP analyzer and adjusted my values according to its recommendations with the cablenut adjuster that I downloaded from the site.

    First all your test results say PPPoE which you are not, if I told anyone to lower there MTU they were on dsl/PPPoE. OK, in adjuster put 1500 where it says MAXMTU, Leave GlobalmaxTcpwindosize-BLANK, in box that says DefaultRvcWindow put either 524176 or 522680 or 513920, which ever works best for you,
    save to registry at bottom, and reboot, and post test results

    That looks real good, but try out other RWIN's too, and remember Thursday night they say is the slowest night on net so beware and speedtest instructions on my help page below, good job
