    Dogs 1, Skunks 0

My 2 outdoor dogs just killed a skunk.

Wow. It smells like the neighbors are burning a pile of tires.

To be honest I love the smell of skunk but it's still in the burning rubber stage and it's damn strong. Christ.

Feel bad for the little critter. Stone dead, and now my Newfie mutt is scrubbing his face on the ground, on the house, on the apple trees

Wow...you like the smell of Skunk? I truly believe Social Circle Georgia, where I live, is ground zero for skunk production. They are all over the place...when I first moved out here I had never had the pleasure of 'that' smell. We were driving one evening and there was a dead one in the road, I thought we were all gonna throw up as it was putrid. I can still feel the nose hairs burning from that first experience. I can't say that I like the smell now but It doesn't make me sick anymore.

I bet your dogs strong sense of smell is making them regret their encounter with the skunk now...I feel worse for them than the skunk.

Weird I guess, but yeah, love the smell. I roll the window down when I pass roadkill skunk

There's a definite time frame the smell changes within though. Straight burning rubber at first, then that awesome second stage.

Dan, Is that that a Brussles Sprout? Immature pine cone? Third stage booger? I've never seen something like that before.

My Lord Humboldt, You like the smell

I regularly come across them on the hwy to town and occasionally by my home & it turns my stomach. Just the other day i opened my back door to check the weather as i do and it took me a second to slam it shut again as the smell of skunk was overwhelming. I live next to a wood and something had upset Mr. Skunk apparently.

I recall hitting one on my way to town a couple of years ago and my goodness what a smell. I parked at the grocery store and when i got out of my truck it was awful. I did my shopping and when i came out people were giving my truck a wide berth and one guy says Hit a Skunk Eh!. It took days for it to go away.

Not a smell i could ever enjoy i'm afraid.

Humby, you are 1 sick puppy! Maybe that is why I have always liked you!

Like Loopy said, with their strong sense of smell, it is probably driving them crazy! (I bet that you like the smell of sulfur...)

Dan, that kind of skunk, back in the olden days was afghanistan, however the leaves were a bit wider, had contrasting tone and more gnarled. It definitely had a distinctive smell... So I was told...

Can't say I've smelled skunk before... People thought I was odd that I loved the smell of wet dog but this definitely beats that.

It must be one of those things you wipe out of the corners of your eyes in the morning.
