I was asked what does wifi stand for? I said Wireless Fidelity. He said I was the first person that has ever been able to answer that.

I don't think it stands for anything. That is to say, it is not an acronym. It's just a name that somebody thought had a good ring to it.

I went to a restaurant that had free WiFi. I placed my order and asked the waitress if she was my free wifi. I was told they were out of them and on backorder.

Yup....."Wireless Fidelity" was part of the WiFi Alliance slogan for standards back in the early days of wireless.
