I have Time Warner Cable broadband and have been an active PS3 gamer. I play COD MW3 and experience regular "server connection timed out" messages following many games. I have 5 kids so we have 8 computers and 3 PS3s. This starts occurring when I have but 2 of the PS3s on and 1 PC on.
I've had TWC out to diagnose all problems with lines (they've replaced lines too) and I've even upgraded to a new Linksys router. Still the problem persists. Today I even had TWC replace their modem and upgrade my service to one that is 5 times faster and this error continues. I have called Sony, Activision, learned about forwarding all recommended ports (even DMZ on one of the PS3s) and still this problem with game disconnects continues.
I have exhausted all avenues of quality and speed increase I can think of and virtually eliminated that it could be PS3, router, or modem related. The only thing that stands out at this point is when I ping test (average 22 ms) I receive a high "jitter" rating usually about 12-13 ms. This is always 0% packet loss but this jitter rate appears high and I have no idea where else to look or what to check to correct these regular disconnects from Call of Duty.
It is easy to say not to turn on too much equipment but I have 3 devices running regularly (should be fine with the bandwidth I have) and it is not a convenient answer when I need a computer on and my kids want to game too.
Thanks in advance for any ideas and help.
