    Not Receiving the Speeds I Paid For

    Hi, I'm new to the these forums and I just have a huge problem that's been there for years now. My ISP is Aserty ( http://www.aserty.com/ (DSL Connection) ) I am suppose to receive 5 mbps of download and 0.8 mbps of upload. However, I only get 0.5 mbps of download and 0.10 mbps of upload according to speedtest.net .

    Here's the Analyzer:

    TCP options string = 020402180103030801010402
    MTU = 576
    MTU value optimized for dialup. Consider increasing your MTU for broadband.
    MSS = 536
    MSS is not optimized for broadband. Consider increasing your MTU value.
    Default TCP Receive Window (RWIN) = 65792
    RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 8 bits (scale factor: 2^8=256)
    Unscaled TCP Receive Window = 257

    In Windows 7, unless "TCP/IP Auto-Tuning" is disabled, only the Current TCP Window is displayed. Use the latest TCP Optimizer for tweaking.
    You seem to be using Google Chrome. Note that Chrome can modify the TCP Window for sockets it creates under some OSes, and therefore servers may not get your correct RWIN value. You may want to test with a different browser. FAQ
    RWIN is not fully optimized. The unscaled RWIN value is lower than it should be. Also, RWIN being close to and above 65535 does not justify the header overhead of enabling TCP 1323 Options. You might want to use one of the recommended RWIN values below.

    For optimum performance, consider changing RWIN to a multiple of MSS.
    Other RWIN values that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
    65392 (up to 2 Mbit lines, depending on latency. MSS * 122)
    130784 (1-5 Mbit lines, depending on latency. MSS * 122 * 2)
    261568 (2-14 Mbit lines, depending on latency. MSS * 122 * 2^2)
    523136 (8-30 Mbit lines, depending on latency. MSS * 122 * 2^3)
    1046272 (25-60 Mbit lines depending on latency. MSS * 122 * 2^4)
    bandwidth * delay product (Note this is not a speed test):

    Your TCP Window limits you to: 2632 kbps (329 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
    Your TCP Window limits you to: 1053 kbps (132 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
    MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON
    Time to live left = 52 hops
    TTL value is ok.
    Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF
    Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON
    IP type of service field (RFC1349) = 00000000 (0)
    On my router I set MTU to 1492 but for some reason it's 576 on the analyzer. Also, sometimes it goes to 1240 MTU on rare occasions.
    My router is the ASUS RT-NI6 with the Tomato USB firmware. ( http://tomatousb.org/ )

    Thanks.

    If you're running Windows 7 just leave it alone. MTU should be set at 1500.

    But I'm on a DSL connection (PPPoE) and so are you saying to put the values back to default? (I used the TCP Optimizer) Even if I put it back, I still get really bad speeds. What's even more weird is that about 3 months ago I used to have about 1 mbps of download and 0.3 mbps of upload.

    Is there really no way to at least bring it back up to 1mbps or even higher?

    EDIT: Just changed back settings to default on Windows 7 via TCP Optimizer. No difference at all, not even the slightest.

    EDIT2: Just checked TCP/IP Analyzer and it shows 1240 MTU.

    TCP options string = 020404b00103030801010402
    MTU = 1240
    MTU is not fully optimized for broadband. Consider increasing your MTU to 1500 for better throughput. If you are using a router, it could be limiting your MTU regardless of Registry settings.
    MSS = 1200

    It should be 1492 because of PPPoE is set as my connection type in my router... or 1500 because of my Windows 7 registry shouldn't it?

    Bump. My MTU value is back to 576 again according to TCP/IP Analyzer. So I guess I'll have to live with 0.50 megabits per second download speed and 0.10 megabits per second upload speed, rather than having a nice 5 mbps download speed and 0.8 mbps upload speed. Please, is there anyone that knows what they're doing and can help me?
