    Caught a shoplifter today

Guy shoved a leash and harness in his pocket.

Our cost maybe $8, retail about $15.

When the police found him he had $600 cash in his pocket.

    wtf?

Oh, and the ball of hash he had makes it a felony so he'll be in jail for the weekend.
    What a moron.

Ohh man, Felony charges for $15 in merch. Some people. He might have enough cash to bail himself out for the weekend unless they hit him with intent to distribute and the cash becomes evidance

I'll give a few examples of what I have seen at my job...

Girl walks around store 4.5 hours and buys nothing...got nailed for stealing 15 dollar shoes.

Guy grabs 4 bottles of perfume and runs out the door and drops his skateboard. LP picks it up and says he has to come with them if he wants it. He goes to the office and hits one LP guy and when the cops show up they find a 2 quart bag of pot in his backpack.....add them charges up.

I know you'll think I'm lying but one guy looks at our undercover LP and asks him if he works there...LP says no...then the guy shows his wrist with 4 watches on and says "I'm stealing" and walks out and is pissed when he finds out who our LP guys was.

One homeless guy actually argued with the cops saying that the merchandise we accused him of stealing wasn't ours and he had stole it from a different store.

The list goes on and on....
    Nutty like squirrel terds!!!

Funny part...we actually opened 5 minutes early for this. They were banging on the doors to get in. I should've been in back doing book-keeping but as soon as I saw them I was pulling up the cameras (18 total), cameras came up just in time to see him pocketing something. By the time I reviewed the tapes and called the cops they were gone but the PD showed up in record time, found the guy a couple blocks away.

Is it just the thrill that causes people to do this?

Today especially where they must know there are cameras everywhere and people undercover watching as well as many tagged goods that unless removed will cause an alarm to go off when trying to leave a store. Just plain Dumb imho

Good for you Humboldt as it affects the cost of everything we buy.

The thing I always find funny is... why carry your drugs around with you everywhere you go? If you're going to try something stupid why have something on you thats going to escalate the charges? There should be some kind of additional charges on the books that tags on extra time just for being stupid.

I remember years ago, I don't remember the comedian (maybe George Carlin) who had a routine that went like... People should carry around those suction type of dart guns when they drive, whenever you see someone doing something stupid in their car you shoot a dart at their back window and when a cops sees a car with 3 or more darts on the window he pulls them over, lol.

We can access the cameras from any of the computers in the store but the one I was trying to use was doing a MSE scan and was super slow.

No live animals any more, just supplies.
