2 Access Points, 2 VERY different speed tests...

My Setup
ISP Verizon FiOS 85/35
Main Router: ActionTech on wireless channel 1 (network name: iNet)
Second Access Point: Apple Airport Extreme on channel 11 in Bridge Mode (network name: iNet_Pool)
APE is connected to the AT via CAT5.

I live in an older home that's multi-level, all brick, and the walls are plaster. Therefore I need to run two wireless access points to get coverage in the house and out to the pool.

Here's my problem; when I run speed tests from iNet, i get very close to what I'm provisioned. When I connect to iNet_Pool, I get very poor results, around 1/3 or less than what I'm provisioned.

Any thoughts?

You're farther away from the AP that is broadcasting inet_pool?
Are you benchmarking from the same location? or from outdoors?
Perhaps that second AP is not located in an ideal situation.

Same location. I am in the same room as the ActionTech router and the APE is downstairs and on the other side of the house. When standing 3 ft from the APE, speeds were great! when in the room directly above the APE they were back to 1/3 of what they were when I was 3 ft away.

This make sense then......you're standing in the same room as your primary router/AP, speed tests on that are fine. The APE is downstairs and opposite end...naturally speed tests on that from the same room as your primary router/AP will be less...it's trying tp pass through too much material (walls, floors, wiring, various interference).

What happens if you stand go downstairs and stand in the same room as your APE? I bet it tests faster.
