wireless networking

I have a network with 2 computers. the main computer is hardwired to a router and which gives me Internet access. the problem is the laptop which is wireless can connect to the Internet, can print to one of the printers that is plugged into the desktop but is unable to see the desktop computer on the network. Both computers are running XP home. The desktop computer can see the laptop by going to network connections and opening files. the laptop and see the desktop but is not able to open any files, message comes up do not have access rights. I have check every known area on desktop, folders and drives have sharing activated. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Try to enable netbios over TCP/IP.
Ensure windows firewall for both allows file/print sharing...esp on the wireless connection on the laptop.
What is being used for DNS by each...the routers LAN IP, or your ISPs DNS servers?
