    California Union Mess

    California Union Mess

What I will never understand about unions and their demands is why they keep voting Democrats into office. They think Democrats are pro union and are helping them out, but in reality they are severely hurting workers. Californians are going to vote on taking away pensions of some workers, the workers earned it, they deserve it. California (like MANY other states) is severely in the red so they want to take away government employee benefits, pensions etc. It's not the workers fault that the Governor and other government officials in California can't balance a budget or stop frivolous spending, I see this first hand every day. So to fix their own mess they want to cut employee benefits to pay for it, then unions support Democrats who want more government control and more government spending..... putting the state(s) further in the red..... so who ends up paying for it? The employees who voted for and support the Democrats.... doesn't make a bit of sense..... they voted themselves out of benefits. Then you have the SEIU coming in fully supporting and involved in the Occupy Movements who are against Wall Street but want more government control, complaining about the 1%. But the government is the one who put them in the positions they are in. To improve government employee benefits (what the unions want) you need a larger tax base.... simple math.... more taxes = more money for the government = better benefits for employees. So how do we get more tax dollars? Not raising taxes, but allowing businesses from small businesses to mega corporations to earn money which = hiring more employees = larger tax base because more people are working and the companies are paying more because they are earning more. Obama and the Democrats have done nothing but stifle job growth by adding more and more government regulations. They don't seem to understand that they don't make the jobs, that their job is to allow businesses to flourish by less regulation and interference. Obamacare is the largest job killer, it is KILLING job growth because it will cost businesses more and more money to hire employees, just ask any business owner and they will tell you this.

So someone explain to me how the Democrat philosophy of more government control and dependency is a good thing?

that's a really stupid thing to say,California is bigger than most states,so along with that comes more issues, besides it's the same in most states just on a smaller basis,

LOL you don't think most of our states have problems(**** ton of messes) right now ? so you must live in Pleasantville where everything is ice cream and cake & perfect all the time ?

we're glad you don't live here also !

you must not be too proud of your state the way you don't put it in your profile LOL

Oh I'm not very proud of my state, its alright, but theres been some mistakes and dumb moves as well.

Sure size is an issue with California, but the state budget was made a into a mess from bad politicians and the crazy payouts and pensions that were in the news recently. Is there any state even close to the debt level of California? I remember seeing a graphic on the budget cuts made in the past for California and thought crap thats bad, and still being in trouble it looks like residents will be paying taxes to balance the budget, rather than for services.

If the list "goes on and on"...keep naming states. You got lucky in your guess of TX being close, Dan added NY for you. But if the list "goes on and on"....put your sack on the table and keep naming states...accurately!

More of the same flawed logic.....

    http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012...-firefighters/

President Obama's top campaign strategist said Sunday that the country needs to "accelerate" job creation in the private sector -- by hiring more teachers, police and firefighters.
Someone explain this logic? Hiring more government employees in the current economic state we are in does nothing but burden the tax payers even more...... because of this moronic logic they are trying to take away pensions of employees in California right now. If there is no money to spend then why would you hire more employees?

When the private sector is doing well people have jobs and pay taxes, they purchase homes and more goods thereby increasing the tax base. When all of this happens you then hire more firefighters and teachers because A) You will need more because things are growing and expanding and B) You now have the money do so. But this logic is putting the cart before the horse..... there is no wonder why we are in the current economic crisis.
