Wireless fast but Ethernet very slow

I have an unusual problem. My wireless to my laptop is good (6 mbps) but the Ethernet connection (from the same router) to the desktop is extremely slow and basically unusable. I've tried to pin down the problem as follows:

Tried a different ethernet cable, no difference.
Tried connecting the laptop via ethernet, but the connection was as bad as on the desktop.
Tried different ports on the router, no difference.

What could be causing major connectivity problems via ethernet, while leaving the wireless connection unharmed?

How do I go about doing some reconfigurations to solve this?

BTW: Desktop is Windows 7, Router is BT Voyager 2110

is the nic set to auto negotiate link speed? Maybe for some reason its stuck on 10T half duplex? Just an idea, Drivers? Try a new router altogether. Any strange routing rules on the router? are wireless and wired clients puling the same gateway and dns? A long shot here, but any vlans? possibly not trucked correctly? is your router the gateway also or is the modem in bridge mode. Factory restore?

I ended up getting a new router because nothing else worked. It's ok now, but I still don't really know what exactly was wrong with the old router. The wireless connection was perfect but the ethernet connection was 0.2 mbps. The new router has fixed the problem.

Glad to hear. Maybe turn it into a repeater for better coverage? OpenWrt or DD-wrt! Might help the port speed. Just some options.
