PLEASE HELP! :) Upgraded DSL, Slower download speed?

Hi,

Just changed DSL plan from ADSL to ADSL+2 and on speedtest.net the change was there, but I noticed when downloading music, video, streaming etc. that the speed has dropped by half! With the old DSL I was able download files at around 800kb/s but since upgrading, I would download the same files at 450kb/s. Is this normal, I would think that if your Line speed was better than you would download faster too.

Here is a speedtest I did today.


Old Speedtest specs (by memory)
Download: 7.32mb/s
upload: 0.30mb/s
ping: 27

Any ideas would be great. Unable to understand why with a Line speed half of that I have now I was able to download files twice as fast.

Maybe they Re-routed you through different DNS servers and made your connection slower. Get a tool called DNS BENCHMARK. Dont think SpeedGuide has this Tool.
