Hi,

I sat a practical exam on packet tracer last night and everything in it came as a bit of surprise as it hadn't been covered on the course!! However, I had always thought that to connect routers together the two interfaces being connected would share one network. On the exam we were asked to connect two routers together using their respective serial interfaces. On one interface we told to use an ip address of 77.77.77.2 and on the other interface an ip address of 66.66.66.2. We were then told to use static routing to connect the two interfaces together.

I don't understand this approach as I had always been told to use one network address and two ip addresses from that network one for each serial interface.

I suppose what I'd like to know is can two routers be connected in this way and if so, how do you do it?

Thanks
