    Band of Brothers/ The Pacific

Just finished watching The Pacific series.

Thought it was very well done but I do have my gripes, like spending most of one episode on a love story.
Sure it is integral to rounding things out but they narrowed Iwo Jima down to 10 minutes to cover a romance.
    Bad editing IMO.

I'm sure it will grow on me, I've watched BOB several times now and the plots and acting become more defined with each viewing, so I assume The Pacific will be the same way.

Is it me or is there one actress in both series...the Nazi wife that Nixon surprises in her house while looking for liquor and later is helping bury bodies in the prison camp, and the mother in episode 10 (last) of The Pacific during the TV discussion at the dinner scene?

I thought Band of Brothers was absolutely amazing. The Pacific dragged more and I had to force myself to finish watching the series.

ya, didn't like the Pacific as much as band of brothers. They should have concentrated more on the ship battles IMO.....

I didn’t know about The Pacific, I’m going to have to see if it’s available on box set.

I like BoB, I bought the box set. It’s cool and it comes in a metal box.

Will a blu-ray, wide format DVD at least play on a regular player?

I’m looking into buying a new DVD player but I haven’t bought it yet.

I agree, thought BOB was an excellent series and own the metal box set.

Great character development, excellent action sequences, good background and closure.

The Pacific was good but much weaker in all those areas.

Any idea about the actress? Can't find her ID'ed anywhere.

The actor who played his part did a very good job.
At the end they mention there's an annual parade in his honor every year, or a town Basilone day, something to that extent.

    Same here.
Iwo Jima barely got any coverage at all, leading back to my original gripe that they spent about 40 minutes of that episode covering a romance
