    Question Random pauases!

I have Comcast high-speed internet with one computer hard wired to the box running Windows 7. Also, a laptop is connected via wi-fi running Windows XP Pro.

BOTH computers experience random pauses for 3-5 seconds, sometimes frequently. If you try to click in the current application window, that window fades almost completely to white until the pause is over.

Since both machines have the same problem, the culprit has to be Comcast. Anyone have a solution?

What router? What modem? Can you post the modem signal levels? Is the routers firmware updated?

Downstream power level being at 10 may or may not be an issue.... but not sure yet.

When you run say www.speedtest.net on both of them what kinda speeds are you getting? Post a few using the copy/paste forum code to here.

not exactly what I asked for but i guess it will do for now. the middle test shows a considerable drop in upload but I don't know the times or pings which is why I said copy and paste the code from each test so it shows up a nice little banner with the results.

After you run a test Click the GREEN "SHARE THIS RESULT" and it will give you two option tabs...one is URL and one is FORUM...click FORUM and click COPY.

Once you click Copy it will change to COPIED and then just come back here and click paste within the post. Should look like this

Ok can you take a few random tests from EACH computer like 3 different times of the day morning, midday and night (peak times) and post them? What I'm looking for is to see if you have a congested connection. You say both computers so right now I'm not focused on just one but more so the internet connection thru the router, modem or just the line.

do you have any thing electrical near the modem/router like a lamp or speakers or anything..if so move them away.
