Seems like every two weeks, coincidence that the battery on the UPS needs to be replaced?

Can be a lot of things.

I've generally not seen old batteries in UPS's cause this...but I've seen when UPS's of inadequate wattage cause servers to bounce randomly. I suppose if the battery is too weak, and you get "brown outs/dips" from the power outlets, the UPS might not sustain enough juice to carry the server through the dip.

    faulty memory
failing power supply, inadequate power supply if it's a cloner server
    failing hard drive(s)
    failing RAID controller
faulty ribbon cables for hard drives..SCSI. Not seen this as much with RAID controllers 'n hot swap bays...but I've seen it often with the old school ultra wide SCSI ribbon cables with the old school internal SCSI drives (knowing you!)
overheating..dust bunny blankets over the CPU 'n other inners (I've seen this quite a few times)
    improperly configured antivirus
    bad drivers

Seems to have a lot of dust on the outside, will have to open it up and look inside.

Why? UPS is a surge protector. What else is plugged into the surge?

The tower is quiet, the rack version is a screamer!
    BIOS update?
Latest firmware 'n drivers for the RAID?
What's the monitoring say for temps 'n fans speeds?

I would take a trip to dell.com support section, download some goodies for it, and at least get openmanage on there so you can monitor things.

Too many rude shutdowns like this will..not can, not if, but will...lead to corruption, one day she probably will start dumping blue screens when trying to boot up.
