DL-615 to WAP54G ?

Will this work? I had a service call for a customer awhile back and i had the darndest time getting this to work. I've done WRT54G->WAP54G in a couple minutes, but this just seemed like it did not want to work.

I tried every modes to no avail, first starting off with the wireless repeater mode.

The reason the AP was purchased was to extend the customer's wireless from their upstairs office to their downstairs rooms, wirelessly. One of the living rooms below the office upstairs (with the router) would get great signal but then it would deterorate as you got further from that room (their house was 4,000+ sq ft).

The unit would work when plugged into the dlink router (which wasn't what i wanted) when i was configuring the AP but once i disconnected and moved to the desired location or even leaving it near the router to test functionality before moving it wouldn't retrieve an IP address or anything, the laptop would just "connect" to the AP and show LONC (limited or no connectivity) which is cause it wasn't reaching the router for DHCP or DNS


Any ideas? I read around some places that linksys prefers staying with their brand router for their APs and I read on newegg, on some review, that someone got it to work with a different brand router.

EDIT: non linksys branded router is DIR-615 not DL-615 (D-link router)
