I have just install a linksys router (internal switch), on my dell laptop with win98se, blackice 2.1X, TCP/IP unbound from everything except my NIC, file and print sharing turn off and on roadrunner cable modem.
I did a scan on secure-me and it show my port 67, 69, 520 is open, and during the scan, nothing is running except internet explorer, can somebody please help.
Port 67 is the Bootstrap Protocol Server, you might want to leave that open (for output at least) if you are using DHCP--it's what "requests" the DHCP server to assign you an IP address (which responds to port 68).
As for the other two ports, 69 (Trivial File Transfer--a.k.a. tftp) and 520 (extended file name server on tcp; or RIP local routing process if it's on udp), I'd worry more about the former. tftp is a fairly unsecure/wide-open ftp server (I'm assuming it's up and running, as ports generally don't open themselves up on their own).
Most good firewall packages /should/ lock those ports down for you--unless of course they detect daemons/services running through those ports. So, you might want to check and see if you are in fact running daemons on these ports.
I have installed @Guard 3.1 now and all the ports is setting in STHEALT mode, wat means that there is no resons is giving if there an incomming message as PING etc. Also you can filter anything as cookies and you can block the reclame message's etc.
