Now for my questions...
1. Why in the heck would they install a 32 bit OS in a system if they are going to install a 64 bit processor? Or else why a 64 bit CPU if they are going to have a 32 bit OS? Either way why would they do this?
2. I really never have 15 apps open at once. I mean I do use this system at home after all, but I do love gaming and getting the most out of them and many are becoming very resource intensive. So is it recomended that i install a 64 bit OS to take advantage of my 64 bit processor and higher RAM capacity?
3. This brings the next question. With 64 bit tech more RAM can be used and I read more is actually needed to run a 64 bit OS. Not sure if it is true, but I read that a minimum of 4 GB of RAM is needed on 64 bit systems, but as I under stand it my MOBO can only support a 1 GB stick of ram per slot and it only has 2 slots so am I limited to 2 GB of RAM and thus can't use a 64 bit OS wich in turn throws the 64 bit design of my processor out the window making it into a glorified 32 bit CPU?
4. Like I sad I belive my MOBO can only support a 1 GB stick of ram per slot and it only has 2 slots. How do i find out for sure how much RAM my MOBO can use total and what size module can be intsalled in each slot?
5. Why are the online manufactureing specs on my system and DxDiag as well as some other online scans telling me I have a SCSI hard drive yet my system it's self and a few other online scans are telling me I have a ATA hard drive and how do I really find out what one i actually have?
6. I have noticed some real lag durring gameplay in even some older games like Neverwinter Nights for example. The game calls for a minimum of an old 800 MHz CPU, 512 MB 133 MHz SDRAM and a GeForce 2 32 MB vid card minimum and recommends a 1300 MHz CPU, 512 MB 266 MHz SDRAM and a GeForce 3 64 MB vid card.
I know i have an onboard video chipset and system RAM allocated as video RAM, but it is a GeForce 6100 chipset using 128 MB of DDR2 667 MHz RAM as well as a 2400 MHz CPU and 1024 MB of DDR2 667 MHz RAM (Well ok 896 MB after the video RAM is allocated, but still...). There is no way this game should be getting choppy or laging even with all the video options maxed out.
This is not the only game I am having lag issues with nut one of the best examples.
So anyone have any idea of what is going on with the poor gameplay experiences I am having considering my system and the info I have provided above?
7. Is there a way to change the provider of my sound on my system other than just buying a sound card? I really have never had good quality out of Realtek on anything. Basically can I get another programming provider like Nvidia to utilise the sound chipset on my MOBO?
8. Ok after Reading the info I provided about my new system and the logs info I provided and the questions I asked what reccomendations are there for getting the most out of my suystem?
I will be using the system mostly for the following and ordered in most used to least:
high end gaming,
downloading/uploading from the internet and my home network,
surefing the net,
playing music,
watching Movies (either streaming or on DVD)
9. I can understand the minor difference between the others, but why do I always get so much lower speed test results from Speed Guide than from all the others? I am testing with conditions witin my system the same on each test and I am testing on several of the mirrors/locations and at several times a day over about 8 days to get a good true average from each test site. So distance, time of day, day of week and system settings don't seem to be a factor or reason for SG.net tests to return such slower results. Any ideas? Perhaps the path taken between me and SG.net has a weak (slow) link in the chain (lines)? :P
Thanks to all who reply with help and put up with and went through my insanely long list of info.
