    Server 2003 sp2 R2

    Important files.

I just can't seem to find anything that explains how to set it up right.

Whelp....I find it works great....I use it for many clients.

I always do full backups..it's my preference..none of those incrementals or father/grandfather jobbers...100% full backup each night.

Sometimes it can be a little limited in supporting what it can back up to...but most clients now I use removable drives (Internal SCSI Iomega REV, or PowerVault RD1000 removable 2.5" SATA drives) instead of tapes. For those..it won't write directly..but it will write to the UNC share path..so I share out the drive..full read/write rights to the System and Admin...and I set the backup job to go to \\servername\sharename

I set full backup jobs...overwrite media, and schedule it using Schedule (which you get to at the end of the backup wizard)

Does it eject the tape when finished?

If I recall...there is a way to get it to do that..yes. Depending on the tape drive...it the drive will support the native command.

No backup this morning. I gave up and put backup exec on. At least I am more familiar with that.
