Weird high ping issue, whats wrong?

    Hey, I usually play wow.
I used to have about 90-120 ping which is pretty okay, now I've noticed that my ping increases to about 500 for most of the day.
This is pretty annoying, and I can't play.

I haven't even done anything that could in any way affect this, not even downloaded a single file.

Anyway the IP of the realm Trollbane I play on is: 80.239.181.50

All pings I tried to do on it were timed out...

    Heres some info:

ISP: UPC Telekabel (Chello) (Its a austrian company, should be good but their service sucks)
I run windows XP on this computer, and my connection is cable.
    Code:

A little quote from the WoW forums.
When your Trace hits our network, you will see this in the last several lines of the Trace Route:

    * * * Request timed out.

This is normal, and intentional, on our part. Our network is set to not respond to Trace Routes.

Comp is not tweaked when TCP Window is at 65535.

Uneven ping times at the modem in hop 1 may be due to malware in your comp. Scan for malware with antispyware programs.

    You can try :

    AVG Antispyware
    SPybot
    Ad-aware 2007

What speed are you paying for ?
    Firefox Extreme Speed Edition

What makes you: "...waking up in the morning so excited about & wanna FLY out of the door ?"

    I pay for a 16mb down, and 1mb up.
First, when I got it it was a 8mb speed, then they upgraded it to a 16mb our speed didnt increase till after a month or so, now it seems that I cant even get past 5mb in speedtest.net

    EDIT:
Run a new test 2 mins later....

I do not see any problem in the log.

Post a new TCP Analyzer report to see if TCP Window has become 513920. Also post a new tracert to www.yahoo.com

I notice your comp is not behind a router.

Assuming your comp is cleared of malware, ping times at the modem are higher then those of hop 4.

Cause for that may be due to electrical interference acting on the modem. Power off the modem for 5 mins and isolate it away from ALL other electrical devices. Do another tracert and see if ping times at hop 1 falls to 5-6 ms.
