    Question connecting 2 routers

I would like to connect 2 routers together.

First one is dual wan Linksys RV082

    2nd one D-LINK DIR-625 Wireless Rangebooster

I will be using 2nd one just for laptop.

How should I configure the Linksys and D-link router ?

I have no clue, is it even possible ?

*note: Didnt buy the D-Link router yet, just wanna make sure it's going to work.

Essentially what you want to do is setup one as the main router and give it a 192.168.1.1 IP address. The second one you want to give it a 192.168.1.2 ip address. If your main router is already setup with 192.168.1.1 then the easiest way to fix the other one is to unplug the main router from your cable modem and connect your cable modem to your new router. By default it will also be 192.168.1.1 so you want to change that. Once you enter into the Admin configuration change it to 192.168.1.2 and then change the DHCP server from Yes to No.

Eventually it should look like this.

Main Router - 192.168.1.1 (DHCP set to Yes)
Secondary - 192.168.1.2 (DHCP set to No)

Basically you log into your 2nd wireless router...and reconfigure it to simply run as an access point.

As in Roodys example..if your primary router is 192.168.1.1, your wireless router will also have a standard LAN IP address ending in .1...such as 192.168.1.1, or 192.168.0.1, etc. You'll want to reconfigure that to be in the same IP range as your primary router...but obviously not the same exact IP address...else you'll have a conflict. So select an IP address, that's also outside the DHCP pool (DHCP pool commonly starts at .100) I use standard access point addresses...which are commonly .245 or .253. So take your computer...plug it into the 2nd router...reconfigure its LAN IP address to what you selected..such as 192.168.1.245. Log into the web admin a second time...at the new address....and disable DHCP. Since you normally don't want 2x DHCP services on the same network.

Next....connect your 2nd router...to your primary router...using the LAN ports of each. You will not use the WAN/internet ports of your 2nd router.

So now you've butchered it into basically just an access point...you're not using any of the NAT/router features..you're simply bypassing them by using only the LAN side of things. You can manage it from any computer plugged into your primary router.

Thank you kindly guys, I'm going to buy it monday.

    My primary router is 192.168.2.1
And my secondary will be 192.168.2.2

It seems clear, worst case scenario I will ask you again if something goes wrong (unable to connect the laptop).
