Should give him custom settings for MTU 1454 first, while he search for a possible firmware update.

My guess is this the firmware coudl help if there is one however I beleve he is using ethernet for windows which is limiting the mtu. In control panel network connections double click your dsl connection. In the peoperties of pppoe there should be an mtu setting see if you can raise it from there if not.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/283165 this will show all the keys where the mtu can be found at.

Btw there is two revisions of that model I need to know if it's the A revision ,or the B to find that out it's on the bottem of the modem thanks

PPPoE client is a software that connects you do the ip such as winpoet, enternet for windows some modems have the software built into them so you don't need to add winpoet, enternet xp pppoe. The software is needed to authencate to the isp saying I'm who I am ,and where I'm at sorta speak.

The first link is howto change the mtu to 1492 afte you saved the changes in the mode reboot the computers. The second link is the mdoem/routers interface.
